What is the Singing Head?
The Singing Head is a beautiful image for the limitless creativity of life, and our own creativity once it is unleashed. Many great religions and spiritual teachings tell us that life is a Song or a Symphony. Once we understand what that means, life becomes more beautiful and endlessly interesting.
Creativity is the basic nature of the human Spirit. My work is to apply this truth through teaching, mentoring and new approaches to society.
The Background
In many ancient traditions, the head is a symbol of creativity and the immortal Spirit. In ancient Greece, legends told of Orpheus, the great poet, musician and mystic, who was one of the few human beings ever to go down to the Underworld and return. Though Orpheus died, it was said that his head carried on singing and became a source of inspiration to the later Greek poets. The Celts also believed that the life-principle was located in the head, and like the Greek Orphics they saw the bard - the inspired musician - as the great teacher of the mystery of life. There were similar teachings in ancient Egypt, among Qabalists and even some early Christians.
Many of the world's philosophies and religions teach that life is a divine song or sacred music. On the bardic path, creativity, practical life skills and spirituality all belong together. Whether you have come to this website through an interest in personal growth and self-empowerment, the way of the artist, or the Mysteries, I look forward to participating in your journey.
